Colossians 4:1
1. Masters, give unto your servants that which is just
and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.
When we look at each other, we just naturally make judgments
based on appearance. Our vision is limited in this way, but our
hearts are not. Our heavenly Father has vision that searches the
the whole earth, looking for those hearts perfect (or committed)
toward Him, to show himself strong in their behalf. When it comes
to His judgments and wrath, or His show of grace and strength
toward someone, He doesn't go by that person's appearance, by
rank, by political power or persuasion, or by how many employees
they might have. He looks upon the heart, and we should always
thank Him for doing this. Because of His vision, His seeing the
truth inside each and every one of our hearts, there can be no
miscommunication with Him. He knows what you meant. He knows when
you give, not looking for accolades, and He knows when you give,
but hold back a little or give begrudgingly. God's vision gives
us comfort and at the same time, reverent fear, for He
understands us completely. If we are Christ's, then there is
neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is
neither male nor female: for we are all one in Christ Jesus. And
if we be Christ's, then are we Abraham's seed, and heirs
according to the promise. Our Master is in heaven, indeed
watching what we do on the outside, but scrutinizing what we are
on the inside, and He is waiting for us with our inheritance.
Something greater than our minds can conceive. Something made
possible for us through the gift that we remember now. As we make
our way through this day, and through the days before us, let
these words ring in our ears, "ye have a Master in heaven,"
and let our hearts overcome the judgments made by what we see.
