Hebrews 2:14-18
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted,
he is able to succour them that are tempted.
David asked,
Psalm 8:4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him?
and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Like all of us do at some point, David wondered why he was
born, and for what purpose he existed.
Romans 6:6-7 Knowing this, that our old man is
crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that
henceforth we should not serve sin. For
he that is dead is freed from sin.
As long as the breath of life enters your body, sin waits
at the door of your heart (Gen 4:7). If
the veil were taken away so we could see God and His angels, I believe we would
see them rooting for us to let go of that doorknob, and turn away from that
door.
Jesus was born of flesh and blood, having that same door to
His heart; tempted by the same things behind it. Even as flesh and blood, Jesus was able to find the answer to
David’s question: “What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of
man, that thou visitest him?” Jesus
looked at that same door we look at (the one that opens with lust, anger,
and pride), and He decided not to care about what lied behind it.
