STEP ONE TO FRUITFULNESS
John 12:24-26
24. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
25. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
26. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
Our Father's desire is that we bring fruit to Him, much fruit (John 15), but we cannot be fruitful unless we value the lives of others more than our own. When we gather at this table, it is good for us to look inward, and take a measure of our individual faith, asking ourselves, "How am I serving Jesus?" Our faith will always be measured by our closeness to Jesus, in how we give up our lives for others.
Let us examine our closeness to Jesus at this time. He valued everyone else greater than Himself; He fell to the ground, and died.
