EXPERIENCE THE BLOOD
1 John 1:5-7
5. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
See there's no question about it, that we have all sinned, and come short of the glory of God. I don't know what kind of a person we would have to be, to think that we are above sin, that we have committed no sin and we have no need of the blood of Jesus Christ in our lives. But until we recognize our sin, and confess our sins, the blood of Jesus will not cleanse us of unrighteousness. He doesn't cleanse what we don't point out to Him, so we have to be kind-of careful. Every sin that we confess, and we repent of, and that we wipe off - the blood of Jesus I believe fills that spot.
We have to come to the point where we realize what Jesus has actually done for us in our lives. The washing of the blood comes from the reading of His holy word, and obedience to it: wipe away the stains, cleanse the stains, forsake the sins.
He doesn't want to keep applying the blood where we keep messing it up. If we're not going to get out of the mud, we're not going to experience the blood. It's just that simple.
So it's a matter of, Jesus made the Way, Jesus has done it all. Jesus died on Calvary, and He literally went to hell for all of our sins, so how can we not be grateful? How can we not be thankful? How can we not treat this service as a holy service? It represents the broken body and the shed blood of the Son of God, our Lord and our Savior. We can't think of it as being a light thing and get away with it. We have to think of it as being something magnificent, a gift greater than any gift we can imagine, because He really is the greatest gift of all.
